Making music and teaching others about the discipline and love for its creation is at the heart of the work done by Monica Rodriguez, music teacher at PAVE. Monica decided to study music when offered a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. After graduating cum laude at Berklee, she decided to continue her education at New York University where she received the Dean’s Academic Scholarship and graduated with a Masters degree in Music Technology. Monica has worked as a Music Teacher for over 7 years in public schools throughout the country, most notably at New York City’s first progressive elementary school, Central Park East 1, where self initiated project based education is at the core. Monica is very excited to be a part of PAVE and to develop a music program here which holds a deep appreciation for creativity, diversity and talent. Monica’s global whereabouts have helped to enrich that wealth of appreciation and her style all the more. When not teaching, Monica is composing & performing her music at top New York venues such as The Highline Ballroom & Joe’s Pub, venues in Los Angeles and many more abroad. Signing with Nacional Records in Los Angeles, (Ultra Records in Brazil and Actua Records in Spain) has expanded her audience creating an exciting and global platform for her own songwriting, production and composition.
