Making music and teaching others about the discipline and love for its creation is at the heart of the work done by Monica Rodriguez, PAVE’s founding music teacher. Monica decided to study music when offered a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. After graduating from Berklee with a BA in Music Education, she decided to pursue a graduate degree at New York University, where she received the Dean’s Academic Scholarship and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Music Technology. Monica has worked as a music teacher for over 9 years in public schools throughout the country, most notably at New York City’s first progressive elementary school, Central Park East 1, where self initiated project-based education is at the core. Monica is very excited to be a part of PAVE and to continue working towards developing a music program that holds a deep appreciation for creativity, diversity and talent.
