Lily Howard graduated from Northwestern University in 2009 and is currently working towards her MA in Literacy and Childhood Education at Bank Street College. Prior to PAVE, Lily worked for an arts education non-profit teaching science and social studies through constructivist learning methods. She then completed a year-long student teaching residency in general education and clinical reading intervention at CPE2 in Harlem. Every summer, Lily teaches a 5-week creative writing course at The GO Project, a program that helps combat “summer loss” for children who face serious learning challenges at school. Lily is a proponent of rigorous progressive education and meaning-driven literacy instruction that connects to the learner’s own interests and experiences. She is excited to watch her first graders mature into not only proficient, but joyful readers and writers!
