Jill Glassbrook graduated from Indiana University – Bloomington with degrees in English and Gender Studies. While in Indiana, Jill began her career in teaching. She started as a preschool teacher for private families, but quickly learned that her knack was usually with the older siblings of her students. She then joined AmeriCorps, where she launched a wrap-around and mentoring program for teenagers incarcerated in Indiana’s Juvenile Department of Corrections Facilities. Jill then joined Teach for America and began her work within the public education system. She taught in Newark, New Jersey for 3 years as a self-contained behavior disorders teacher for students in grades 4-6. Jill attended Seton Hall University and received her masters degree in Education – Curriculum Design and Technology. As her passion for education progressed, she came to Brooklyn as the Director of Special Services and then Dean of Students at Achievement First Bushwick Middle School. After her 4 years in Bushwick, Jill finds herself fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the students and families of Red Hook. Jill lives in Brooklyn with her Husband (to be) and their two dogs, Asthenosphere and Yossarian.
