Denise Barilar graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2007 with a bachelors degree in psychology and Russian and a minor in music. During her time at Notre Dame, Denise worked with the students in the South Bend community as a mentor and tutor and participated in research on non-violent conflict resolution in schools and student motivation to learn mathematics. She also studied for a semester at International University in Moscow in the spring of 2006. After graduating from college, Denise moved to Washington, D.C. to join the Teach for America Metro DC corps. Denise taught fourth grade in Prince George’s County Public Schools for four years and earned her Masters in Teaching from American University in 2009. She is very excited to be teaching 3rd grade again at PAVE this year!
