Welcome - A Note from the Founder

Welcome to PAVE Academy! This August, we opened the doors to 88 Kindergarten and 1st Grade students.  I will never forget the first day. The excitement was palpable as the students in their blue uniforms and parents lined up outside our door.

It is amazing to me how quickly everyone settled in, both the students and the families. Within a short time, our students were proudly shouting PAVE Academy cheers, walking quietly down the halls and most importantly, engaging in our rigorous but fun-filled lessons. We have already seen great gains in learning. I have enjoyed meeting all the parents and they are just as proud as their children to be part of PAVE.  For that, our amazing staff deserves credit. Our teachers have been working tirelessly to create engaging lessons, set a high bar for our students and also make PAVE a structured and joyful place. They are heroes and I feel so lucky to work with such a smart, passionate and hard-working group at PAVE.

Our vision for PAVE Academy and its students is a simple one: we want every one of our students to be proficient and advanced in reading and math as defined by the standards established by New York State. We will work tirelessly to accomplish this. While achieving this goal is of paramount importance, it is not enough. For our students to be successful beyond PAVE Academy, we must ignite a passion for learning, inspire critical thinking, and nurture creativity in all of our students. As a school we are steadfast in our commitment to this. We believe that our broad curriculum and wide range of stimulating enrichment activities will empower PAVE Academy students to become scholars in the truest sense of the word.

When we received the green light to open the school from New York State on January 16, 2008, PAVE Academy immediately became accountable to a number of entities throughout the state and city governments. We laid out a number of ambitious goals and objectives that we are intent on meeting. But as a father of two young sons I know that my greatest obligation is to the parents and families who entrust PAVE Academy to educate their children. It is a responsibility that I, along with every member of the PAVE Academy team, take very seriously.

Welcome. We look forward to your children growing with PAVE!

Sincerely,

Spencer Robertson
